Seniors are going hungry in Seminole County.

Seniors are going hungry in Seminole County.

homedeliverablesThe new faces of hunger in Seminole County are elderly people who are too proud to ask for help.  Typically, they run out of money at the end of the month and choose to go without eating until the next small retirement check arrives.

The number of seniors who face the threat of hunger, or are actually hungry, is rising. Meals on Wheels, Etc. is committed to ending this hunger.   Through our kitchen operation, fresh meals are prepared daily.  They are appetizing and fulfill the nutritional requirements for older adults.

Unfortunately, there is an alarming number of seniors who are becoming food insecure (not sure if they will have physical or economic access to sufficient and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs), The fight to end this hunger will only worsen – but thanks to wonderful volunteers and community donors, we will continue to aggressively pursue our goal to make sure that “no Seminole County Senior goes hungry.”

Help Seniors… They Deserve Our Support

SherryFThe Seniors we serve are the same people that raised us, helped build our nation through hard work and ingenuity, fought our wars, and insured a brighter future for us all.  Now, 1 in 6 of these seniors faces the threat of hunger on a daily basis.  It is our turn to help them.  Unfortunately, many are alone without family, and often when there is family, they don’t always provide the support and care that is needed.

You can help by volunteering your time or making a donation.  Our local community is what keeps the wheels turning!
