Dorothy Evans

Home-Delivered Meals Program
Volunteer of the Quarter
(January – March 2026)

Congratulations to Dorothy Evans, Volunteer of the Quarter. Dorothy has been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Etc. for over 15 years. One of her daughter’s friends’ mom delivered meals and loved it. Then Dorothy saw a memo in her church bulletin that volunteers were needed, so she signed up. Dorothy does a double route in Sanford and has been doing so for about 10 years. As shared by a fellow volunteer, “Dorothy is very friendly and helpful to her clients.”

When asked what the most rewarding thing about her volunteer experience is, Dorothy shares this: “When you can do something for someone, out of the goodness of your heart, and not expect anything in return, it’s pure joy!” She feels she could write a book about the many client stories because there are so many of them. As a volunteer, you learn so much about each client, where they come from, their financial situation, their health issues, and of course, about their families, far and near.

Dorothy encourages anyone who can spare a little time out of their week to do so. YOU can make a difference in someone’s life by being a volunteer, and it is always a good thing to help someone if you can. We are grateful to have Dorothy as one of our volunteers, and we are so thankful for her dedication to the senior clients on her two Sanford routes.
